Event Details

June 16-17, 2005 The Lean Design Forum of LCI was formed to - • Develop evidence for the benefits of investing in design; benefits for customers, designers and all stakeholders, including society. • Develop means for executing design to increase return on investment. • Promote beneficial practices in the construction industry. The role of LCI is to • Collect and analyze data. Serve as benchmarking center. • Promote changes in industry practice. The investigation will focus on that part of a project between the big phases of a construction project: Plan-Design-Build. The handoffs between these phases limit Design to whatever takes place in and between schematic design and the production of fabrication and installation instructions. If you have difficulty registering online, send an email to jgclark@leanconstruction.org and request an invoice. The Design Forum meeting will be held in at the Hyatt Rosemont near the Chicao O'Hare Airport. For reservations, phone 847 518 1234 and ask for the Lean Construction Institute rate. The seminar begins at 8 am each day and closes at 4:30 on the 16th and 4:00 on the 17th. Breaks, lunches and workbooks are provided participants. Dress is casual.

SoCal Lean Construction Institute

The Lean Construction Institute (LCI), a non-profit research organization, was founded in August 1997. LCI's purpose is to develop and disseminate new knowledge regarding the management of work in design, engineering and construction for capital facilities. LCI has developed the Lean Project Delivery System© (LPDS), and the Last Planner® System of production control. Lean Construction is a production management-based approach to project delivery - a new way to design and build capital facilities. Lean production management has caused a revolution in manufacturing design, supply and assembly. Applied to construction, Lean changes the way work is done throughout the delivery process. Lean Construction extends from the objectives of a lean production system - maximize value and minimize waste - to specific techniques and applies them in a new project delivery process extending from project definition through design, supply and assembly.
